The Bentonville Bulletin, launched in April 2024, is a startup working to expand news coverage of our city. We’re the only local news source focused solely on Bentonville.
With so much happening, it can be hard to keep up. Our coverage of local news and events aims to keep you informed and help you feel more connected to your community.
We deliver all the latest straight to your inbox—don’t forget to sign up for our mailing list!
Stay impartial and independent.
We do our best to avoid conflicts of interest, both real and perceived. We do not publish opinion columns or endorse political candidates.
Provide facts with proper context.
We verify the information in our articles, taking the time to understand what’s happening — and why — so we can share that with you.
Avoid boosterism.
Bentonville is a great place to live, but like any community, it has its challenges. In our work, we both celebrate Bentonville and discuss issues facing the community.
Correct mistakes promptly.
Everyone makes mistakes. When we do, we correct them as quickly as possible.
Clearly label all advertising.
You deserve to know if something was paid for, which is why we prominently label all advertising and sponsorships.
Show up in unexpected places.
We are committed to being present and engaged in all corners of our community. You never know where you’ll run into us next.
The Bentonville Bulletin is operated by Sam Hoisington, a Bentonville native, who oversees all the journalism on our site. Both business and editorial control
Nobody else controls what we report or how we report it. All advertising, grants, and contributions are made with the understanding that our news coverage will stay unbiased and factual.
How do you make money?
We make money from our readers and local advertisers. We can also accept grants through a fiscal partnership with the Alternative Newsweekly Foundation.
Who has given you money?
The Bentonville Bulletin is largely funded by local readers and advertisers.
Mitch Bettis, the president of Arkansas Business Publishing Group, contributed seed funding for the project.
The Walton Family Foundation gave us a $15,000 marketing grant in 2024.
The Association of Alternative Newsmedia gave us a $20,000 grant for technology in 2024.
How can I trust your independence?
We understand it’s hard to know who to trust these days. By sharing our guiding principles and approach, we hope to answer your questions.
Ultimately, “the proof is in the pudding” — by subscribing and reading, you’ll quickly see that we keep things straightforward and honest.
