Chairlift-Served Mountain Bike Park Planned for Bella Vista

OZ Trails Bike Park plans

Walton-owned Runway Group plans to build Northwest Arkansas’ first chairlift-served downhill mountain bike park in Bella Vista.

With construction set to begin this spring, the new OZ Trails Bike Park will include more than 20 miles of gravity trails, adding to the existing OZ Trails network, according to a news release sent by Runway Group on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The development will integrate a high-speed chairlift system for year-round lift access.

The park will be located at Oldham Drive and Bella Vista Way, across the street from Allen’s Food Market and Sugar Creek Shopping Mall. Plans appear to show the demolition of at least four structures on the site, including the Greenwich Centre strip mall, which includes Domino’s and the Bella Vista Back Center.

The park will also include a pump track, hiking trail, art walk, dining facilities, and a bike shop and rental center. Trail design and construction will be done by Gravity Logic and Rock Solid Trail Contracting, both of which also worked on Bella Vista’s Little Sugar trails.

The park will offer access to the nearby Razorback Greenway and Little Sugar Trail System.

“As Northwest Arkansas’s first purpose-built gravity cycling facility, the park’s location strengthens the natural connection between Bella Vista and Bentonville, positioning both communities as premier global cycling destinations,” said Tom Walton, Runway Group CEO, in the release.

Multiple permit applications are available on the City of Bella Vista’s website that give an early look at the plans, and Runway Group said they expect items to be discussed at the March meeting of the Bella Vista Planning Commission.
